Frequently Asked Questions

BizzEnergy In Administrative Receivership

What has happened to BizzEnergy?

BizzEnergy went into administrative receivership on 31st October 2008 and British Gas Business (BGB) acquired all of BizzEnergy's customer sites.
BizzEnergy customers' contracts have automatically been transferred to BGB under their existing terms and conditions and prices.

What happens next?

BGB are sending a letter to all BizzEnergy customers explaining that BGB have bought BizzEnergy's customer portfolio and will be carrying forward all BizzEnergy contracts.
BGB have also placed a notice on their website www.britishgas.co.uk/business explaining to BizzEnergy customers what has happened.

What do I have to do?

BizzEnergy customers don't need to do anything.
If you currently pay by direct debit you shouldn't cancel it as charges for your final bill will be taken by your existing direct debit mandate as per the terms of your contract

Who do I pay?

BizzEnergy will invoice you for all electricity consumed up to and including 31st October 2008 and you should pay these invoices to BizzEnergy as usual. All debt owing on your account up to 31st October should be paid to BizzEnergy.

Payments for all customers should be sent to:

BizzEnergy Limited in administrative receivership
BizzEnergy House
Brook Court
Whittington Road
Worcester
WR5 2RX

Or you can pay by credit card by calling 0844 472 4200, or online by clicking here.

Alternatively you can pay by BACS/CHAPS to the following account details:

Bank: Barclays Bank plc
Account Name: BizzEnergy Ltd.
Sort Code: 20-37-63
Account Number: 90606952

BGB will invoice you for electricity consumed from 1st November and you should pay these invoices to BGB as per their instructions.

What about the recently announced VAT changes?

In his Pre-Budget Report on 24 November 2008 the Chancellor announced that the standard rate of VAT would be reduced to 15% from 1 December 2008.

The changes don't affect invoices from BizzEnergy because they are for energy consumed prior to the 1st December and so the original rate of 17.5% still applies.

Who do I contact with queries?

For enquiries about finalising your BizzEnergy account, continue to contact us on 0844 472 4300.

For all other enquiries about your ongoing account please contact BGB directly:

Who now supplies me with electricity?

British Gas Business now supplies you until the end of your existing contract.

Will this affect my Contract or Terms & Conditions in any way?

Your BizzEnergy contract, including your terms and conditions and your prices have been transferred to British Gas Business.

What will happen at the end of my contract?

If your contract is due for renewal more than 120 days in the future, British Gas Business will write to you about how your renewal will proceed.

If your contract is due for renewal between 67 and 120 days in the future, British Gas Business will write to you to notify you of your renewal date enclosing your new terms and conditions and explaining the renewal process

If your contract is due for renewal within the next 67 days, you should receive a call from British Gas Business shortly to check whether or not you have received a Bizznergy renewal pack and to discuss your contract with you.

Will I need to sign a new contract?

No, not unless you agree to a new contract with British Gas Business.

Is this transfer legal?

Yes. Your BizzEnergy terms and conditions (clause 11.1 for Non Half Hourly and 13.1 for Half Hourly) allows for the transfer of all or part of the contract to another licensed electricity supplier.

Are my bills going to increase/decrease?

Your current prices per unit will continue under your current contract terms. The size of your bills with British Gas Business will of course depend on your energy consumption.

What happens if I have a credit balance on my account?

If your account was already closed prior to 31st October you'll receive a letter from KPMG notifying you of your position as an unsecured creditor.

If your account transferred to BGB, once your account has been billed up to 31st October, BizzEnergy will be able to pass any details of credit balances to British Gas Business.

What if I don't want to be supplied by British Gas Business?

Your contract has been transferred to British Gas Business to ensure continuity of your supply. You need to comply with the terms and conditions of your contract.

What will happen with my direct debit payments?

You should not cancel your current instruction with BizzEnergy until you have settled your final account with us. British Gas Business will send you a new direct debit instruction so that you can continue to benefit from the ease of paying by direct debit with British Gas Business.

How will my final bill be calculated?

The industry bodies provide us with a final reading to produce your final bill. Both British Gas Business and BizzEnergy have to bill using these industry readings, so our closing read will be the same as the British Gas Business opening read for your account.
